VATESI and representatives of European Commission discussed decommissioning projects of Ignalina NPP

Representatives of VATESI and European Commission

On October 1, 2021 VATESI hosted Jean-Philippe Guisset, Head of the Decommi-ssioning Division of the Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Waste and Decommi-ssioning Unit of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Nuclear Energy, Safety and ITER, and Carlo Sborchia, Policy Officer.

At the meeting, intended to discuss Ignalina Programme monitoring related questions, VATESI Deputy Head for Radioactive Materials Control Matters Darius Lukauskas, Deputy Head for General Nuclear Safety Matters Sigitas Šlepavičius, Head of Division of Operation Experience Analysis Dainius Brandišauskas and Head of Division of Decommissioning Saulius Stravinskas participated. The meeting focused on the aspects of radiation safety assessment during VATESI's review of the documents substantiating the safety of the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning projects.

Ignalina Programme is a European Union financial tool intended for support of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning and related activities in the energy sector of the Republic of Lithuania.
