October 24, 2020. Regarding the news in the media, stating that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus (MES) has issuance a permit for power start up of the first Unit of Belarusian NPP, State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) hereby informs, that till now has not received official information on this neither from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) nor from MES directly.
In the letter dated 23th of September VATESI asked MES to clarify, what kind of safety documentation shall license holder submit at each commissioning stage in order to obtain special permission (license) from MES and what is the timeframe for regulatory body to perform comprehensive review and assessment before issuing such authorizations.
Regretfully, MES has not submitted such clarification neither before the previous commissioning stage nor about this permit for power start up, nor about other permissions already issued or planned.
